This may come as a surprise but 3M has several beehives throughout their corporate headquarters which are tended to daily by an onsite beekeeper. To commemorate the first harvest from 3M Bees I was fortunate enough to team up with the volunteer bee group and design custom packaging.
It was a fun challenge to leverage the corporate brand guidelines and fonts to develop a unique look for the launch. Overall we generated quite the ‘buzz’ (pun intended) on campus and sold out of honey within minutes.
Bee’cause we care.
The hives also got a mini home makeover. Each hive is wrapped in a custom vinyl wrap which are swapped out with the seasonal temperature changes. The darker color designs are used in the winter to absorb more of the sun’s heat. In the summer the hives are wrapped in the lighter color designs, which helps keep the hive temperature more comfortable and prevent overheating inside. Happy healthy bees indeed!
